About Me

I’ve been obsessed with making music since I was ten years old and got my hands on my first real guitar and started playing trumpet. At the time my only goal was to become the fastest guitar player in the world but soon found out no matter how fast you got, there was always going to be some 8 year old out there doing it better than you and that speed wasn’t really what people listened to anyways. By the time I was in high school it was pretty clear that if I was going to do something in this world, it was going to be with music. About that same time, I got my first usb microphone, found a free recording software that I didn’t understand how to work, and started making up demos. I started college trying to double major in trumpet performance and jazz guitar studies but by the end of the first semester I realized that was not going to get me where I wanted to be and dropped out. The next year I signed up for the Music Technology program at Kent State Stark and found what I love doing. Being in the Studio. Whether that was recording other musicians, writing songs, or producing music for film, I was down for it. Along the way I took voice lessons, studied classical composition, took a semester of sitar lessons, and met some of my best friends that I still make music with to this day. Nowadays if I’m not in the studio, I either teaching music lessons and Woodsys Music in Kent, playing with one of my groups (Panamera or Rocks and Roots,) or chilling out with my fiance, Rachel, binging our next show.

The Studio

Very recently, my fiance and I got our own house and I converted half the basement into the perfect home studio. Not quite up to snuff with the multi-million dollar facility I got to use in college, but definitely everything I’ve ever needed or wanted. It started out as a completely open cave basement and with a little help from Louis Russo (my soon to be father in law) we put up walls, added a proper ceiling, and finished the bathroom that started out as a toilet just hanging out under the stairs

I have had a “studio” going for probably about the last 10 years of my life. It started with a usb microphone, guitar amp, and cheap keyboard in my high school bedroom. Then I upgraded to a macbook with a couple of microphones and a entry level interface situated in the living room of my first apartment.

The studio consists of a control room and a live room. The control room is where I run the computer and produce and the live room is where all the recording gets done. Both rooms are filled with acoustic treatment, practically cut off from the outside world, and (in my opinion) pretty excellent vibes. I have the capability of recording 16 tracks at a time and have more than enough quality microphones and gear to make that happen and sound great doing it.
